Mesonie was born in Southwest Louisiana and grew up in Texas, graduating with honors from John Marshall High School in San Antonio Texas in 1978.  He returned to Southwest Louisiana and attended McNeese State University where he graduated Magna Cum Laude with Bachelor of Science degrees in Environmental Science/Microbiology in 1981.  Thereafter, he entered Law School at Tulane University in New Orleans and graduated with a Juris Doctorate in 1985. 

Upon graduation from Tulane School of Law, he served as law clerk to the late Honorable Charles S. King at the Louisiana Third Circuit Court of Appeal in 1985-1986.  In 1986-1987, he served as law clerk to the late Honorable Earl E. Veron, United States District Judge for the Western District of Louisiana.

Mesonie entered private practice in 1987 as an associate and then partner of several firms in Lake Charles. His area of practice was concentrated in litigation, including insurance defense, medical malpractice, worker’s compensation, personal injury, domestic matters and general business. He also handled wills, succession and bankruptcy matters.  In 2003, he left private practice to become Counsel for Allstate Insurance Company’s Staff Counsel Office and remained there until his retirement at the end of 2021. Upon his retirement from Allstate, he became associated with Loftin & LeBlanc, now Loftin Law Group, LLC, as “Of Counsel” where he now concentrates his practice in the areas of general, business and construction litigation, as well as personal injury (both plaintiff and defense).  He has tried hundreds of cases, both bench and jury, throughout the State of Louisiana.

Mesonie is a member of Louisiana State Bar Association as well as the Southwest Louisiana Bar Association and has been admitted to practice before all Louisiana State Courts, as well as the Western, Middle and Eastern Districts of Louisiana, the Southern District of Mississippi, the Eastern and Southern Districts of Texas and the United States Fifth Circuit Court of Appeal.

He has been married to Jan Marie McInnis for 33 plus years and they have 6 children and 4 grandchildren.
